They say “one man’s trash is another’s man’s treasure”. Households in Union County will have an opportunity to put that theory to a test on every Friday morning beginning April 15th – Oct. 28 th at the Union County Farmers Market.
The Farmers Market is the ideal location for folks to set up their gently used goods to resell to the public. There’s plenty of parking, porta-potties, and it’s under roof, so it can be held rain or shine. We do the advertising for you. We take the worry out of your household sale, such as people finding your sale, trying to negotiate parking spots, or the concern for your security.
Sellers will be able to rent booth space (approx 10x18) for $10 or double booth space for $18. The Market is open to sellers at 7am, and booths are rented on a first come, first serve basis. The Market then opens to buyers at 8am until 1pm.
Sellers must bring their own table, seating and setup displays. They are encouraged to have all items priced. Electricity is available at each booth in order for buyers to check electronic equipment before purchasing.
“There are a set of rules that we will be strict in enforcing” points out Mickey Cummings, Farmers Market Manager. “We want our residents to have a place to sell their household goods. This is not a resale market for bulk resellers, junk collectors, antique dealers, food producers, or craftsman and artisans.” (Beginning May 14th, The Union County Farmers Market will be open as a Flea Market, every Thursday from 8am – 3pm for just such a resale market. Booth space is $15 and booths are rented each Thursday on a first come, first serve basis)
Non – profit organizations can also participate. Each week, two booths will be set aside for Non-profits to sell food goods such as hot coffee and donuts, breakfast and lunch sandwiches and salads, as a fundraiser for their organization.
For more information, call Mickey Cummings at 706-439-6030. The Market is located at 148 Old Smokey Rd., Blairsville. (Turn north on Weaver Rd., just east of Home Depot. Old Smokey Rd. is the first right off Weaver Rd.)
Sorry, no pets are allowed on the Farmers Market premises.
