Recipe Winner “Apple Is The Star”
Cinnamon Apple Butter Submitted by Dot Patterson
This recipe is unique in a few ways. This butter is baked in the oven. It’s seasoned with candies! And it’s easy. You don’t even peel the apples!
You’ll need a large pot that you can use on the stove and in your oven (or transfer from stove top pot to a large Pyrex casserole. You’ll also need a blender or a food processor.
Ingredients:
Apples (approx 18), sectioned and cored. No need to peel.
4 cups of sugar
2 tsp of ground cinnamon
¼ tsp of ground cloves
½ cup of red hot candies (check out counter of Foodland usually has small packages hanging there)
Put sectioned apples in large pot with water and cook till very soft. Drain well. When cool enough to work with, process thoroughly in blender or food processor.
Return to pan or baking dish a total of 2 quarts of cooked Apple Pulp and add the balance of the ingredients.
Bake at 300 degrees, for 2 hours, stirring often. While still hot, put up in pint jars and use your favorite canning process to put up.
